BJCP Online Exam Prep Course

This course meets for two hours a week for eight weeks, and is specifically designed to prepare students to earn a passing grade on the new BJCP Online Entrance Exam. We cover the following topics:

  • BJCP Craft Beer Styles (20 Styles and 74 Substyles)
  • Major Homebrewing Topics (Water, Malt, Hops, Yeast, and  Brewing Procedures)
  • Craft Beer Flavor Faults (Flavor & Aroma Profiles, Causes and Remedies)
  • BJCP Judging Procedures (Competition and Judging)
  • BJCP Exam Hints & Tips (What to expect and how best to prepare)

BJCP Live Tasting Exam Prep Course

This course meets for two hours a week for eight weeks, and is specifically designed to prepare students to reach their highest grade on the new BJCP Tasting Exam. We cover the following topics:

  • BJCP Craft Beer Styles (20 Styles and 74 Substyles)
  • Craft Beer Flavor Faults (Flavor & Aroma Profiles, Causes and Remedies)
  • Procedure for Beer Evaluation and Completing a Scoresheet
  • Perception, Descriptive Ability, Feedback,  Completeness/Communication
  • Actual Tasting of 3 beers per class (1/3 of all substyles)
  • BJCP Exam Hints & Tips (What to expect and how best to prepare)
